CSCS Cards

What is a CSCS card?

The CSCS card was introduced to make construction workplaces safer in the UK. By having a single certification that shows both skills and safety training, it became easier for construction employers to hire qualified and experienced people who were trained in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE). This also encouraged those interested in construction careers to get the right training.

Nowadays, almost all construction employers in the UK ask for a valid CSCS card before letting anyone work on-site, and sometimes even before considering them for a job.

How long is a CSCS card valid for?

The validity of CSCS Cards varies, lasting up to five years based on the card type. Some cards expire in three years, while others remain valid for just six months. For precise information, you'll need to refer to each card type's details.

How do I renew my card?

Renewing an expiring CSCS card is often easier than obtaining a new one. You have two options:

1. Industry Accreditation (Renewing without Qualifications): If you have a blue, gold, or black CSCS card labeled as 'Industry Accreditation' on the back, you can renew it by retaking the appropriate HS&E test, as long as it hasn't been expired for more than 6 months. After this point, the process becomes more complex. Feel free to call us for more information.

2. Typical Renewal (Renewing with Qualifications): This is a straightforward process, very similar to applying for a new card. Like when you applied for your initial card, you'll need to retake your HS&E test.

Regarding the expiration of your temporary (red) CSCS card, renewing it might not always be possible. If your temporary card has expired, please get in touch with us to learn about the next steps.
